Christopher Duggan Photography is in search of an Assistant Photographer for Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival 2023.
About Jacob’s Pillow
Jacob’s Pillow is lauded worldwide as a “hub and mecca of dancing” (TIME Magazine), “one of America’s most precious cultural assets” (Mikhail Baryshnikov), and “the dance center of the nation” (The New York Times).
“The Pillow,” located in Becket, MA in the Berkshires, is a treasured 220-acre National Historic Landmark, a recipient of the prestigious National Medal of Arts, and home to America’s longest-running international dance festival.
Festival 2023 features nine weeks of performances in Ted Shawn Theatre and on the outdoor Henry J. Leir Stage, as well as special events, parties, workshops, exhibits, talks, pop-up performances in Berkshire County, and more.

About the Position
This is a photo editing, administration, calendar management, and photography position.
Timing: June 20th through July 18th, 2023. It’s a 6-day work week.
Compensation: $800 per week. On-campus housing and 3 meals per day are provided by the Pillow.
The Festival is a fast-paced environment, and we get to shoot a lot of amazing dance. This is Christopher’s 17th summer as the Pillow’s Festival Photographer, and he LOVES IT!!
Responsibilities include:
- Editing Assistant Photographer photos and Festival Photographer photos as needed
- Managing calendar
- Managing export and delivery of all photos to image drive, Marketing Department, Individual Artists, other JP Departments as needed, and ultimately to the Jacob’s Pillow archives
- Working closely with the Festival Photographer on all assignments
- Working closely with JP Marketing Department
- Backing up all media and managing backups with IT
- Responsible for own equipment and maintenance
- Photographing as assigned: live dance performance and dress rehearsals both inside and outside theaters, dancers in class and in creative process
- Photographing events, gala, talks, environment, ambiance and staff
- Other tasks as assigned by Festival Photographer and Director of Media
