Photographing Barb & Ray’s wedding at Seneca Lake was so much fun. Ray’s sister is Kristine who is married to Reuven. They are our best friends and we met at their wedding!

Barb’s dad gave her mom a ring with a leaf design when he proposed. Ray did not know this. On his own, he picked out a leaf design for Barb’s ring. Total serendipity. I was trying to find a creative way to photograph the rings before I even saw them. I was outside scouting and picked a few leaves off of the tree to photograph the rings on top. Then I found out the back story. Weird! Cool!

Barb asked the florist, Garden of Life, to replicate her grandmother’s bouquet from 1948. It brought her to tears when she saw it. Ray was kind enough to share photos of her grandmother’s wedding to show you how talented her florist is.

From Barb: “Wedding date: October 22, 1948. The flowers would have most likely been flowers out of their garden. My great grandmother made the dress and my great grandfather would hold the dress up off of the floor as she worked on it so it would not get dirty.”

The Volkswagen bug was a gift from Ray to Barb – a surprise on the wedding day. The car actually belonged to Barb, and it had been stored at her mom’s in a barn, and hadn’t worked in years. Ray secretly taught himself how to fix it up and got it ready to drive in for her surprise!
