Katie & Pari’s Traditional Indian Wedding at Tappan Hill

by | May 8, 2023 | Wedding

Katie and Pari had a beautiful traditional Indian wedding weekend at Abigail Kirsch at Tappan Hill Mansion.

They actually found me through Tappan Hill!

Back in 2016, Tappan Hill officially added me to their preferred vendor list for wedding photography. I’m so grateful for the relationship I have with their entire team. They are so wonderful to work with, and I’ve photographed more than 50 really beautiful weddings there.

The night before the wedding, Katie & Pari got ready for their Sangeet at Tarrytown House and Estate. A Sangeet is an Indian wedding tradition–a party before the wedding to celebrate the happiness and joy of the couple!

It was a really fun night filled with music and dancing, traditional Indian clothing, beautiful bright colors, gorgeous henna, and family and friends coming together to celebrate. Katie and Pari’s dog, Jada, even joined in while we were making bridal portraits!

Their wedding the next day was wonderful.

The rituals and culture of a traditional Indian wedding are intricate and beautiful. We were worried about rain during the ceremony, but we were able to do it outdoors after all, and with a beautiful sunset!

There were Barat drums, the groom came in on a horse… it was a combination of an abbreviated traditional Indian ceremony and a short legal ceremony.. We made lots of portraits outside in the natural light. The clothing from Nazranaa and the henna by Rita Shah were absolutely gorgeous.

Congratulations, Katie & Pari!
